G-E-T (Go-Engage-3:1) confirmed 100 followers and more, in 3 simple steps
I joined Medium last week on Dec 16, 2021 publishing an article on the very first day. Wrote another one on Dec 19. In the process I got to know about the 100 followers requirement to join the Medium Partner Program, I did some research around it and started my journey of getting the followers first.
Just 2 days back on Dec 21 when I was with 37 followers, following 105, I wrote and published an article which was a social experiment on my S-T-A-R-T (Search, Talk, Appreciate, Reach, Trust) to get 100 followers. I have articulated my thoughts on building a healthy reader-follower base in the same (link below).
From 37 followers just 2 days back, I was at 132 followers this morning and already at 154, while I am writing this article (can’t even say I have come a long way given time it has taken 😄). I am sharing a quick way to get followers with my experience which can surely save time and reduce anxiety of getting followers for my readers and create an all-win situation for my readers, my followers, Medium and of course myself
So, let’s G-E-T (Go-Engage-3:1) to it in 3 simple steps:
1.Go — Go to my follower list and send requests the 154+ of them, that’s the easy accessible option to you all, as the response time of accepting friend request by these awesome people is proven and phenomenal. Isn’t that in perfect harmony as all parties involved get benefited:
· My Readers — I help my readers i.e. people searching for leads on getting followers
· My Existing Followers — I pay my respects to people who followed me by getting them more followers
· Myself — I get benefitted too in the process (do not forget to follow me for one additional confirmed follow back 🙂)
So just go ahead and hit the follow button for my followers and me
2.Engage — While you are all excited in getting quick followers, I keep reiterating in all my 100 follower articles, never forget the purpose and lose focus of why you came to Medium in the first place. Read articles of people whose writing are in similar sphere as yours. Leave your views on their articles and share link to yours in the comment. Unlike the first option, here there is high likelihood of them visiting your page to read your article and you are also building a reader base in parallel, it’s a slow process but do not forget you are here for writing and not in the race for only building followers. I also came across several articles criticizing the approach of getting 100 followers. If 100 followers get traction, rather than looking down upon them and getting cynical about it why not spin it in your style of writing as a writer, that would indeed show your versatility as a writer and a thinker (by the way, people posting articles criticizing the 100 followers approach and related articles are also in some way trying to capitalize on the topic, isn’t that true?). Here are 2 articles on 100 followers by some fellow authors who I came across in my journey so far where they have blended the topic in their own style of writing. While Wire Editor Newman wrote a poem out of it, Jessica Rabel wrote a clear strategy which can serve as a good guidebook for others (Article links below for reference).
3. ‘3:1’ — The ratio of 3:1 which I had predicted in my first article for follower base building, turned out to be true in my experience with Medium so far. What is 3:1? It is the effort to return ratio, i.e. you need to follow 3 to get 1 person following you back. You need to leave comments for 3 people to get at-least 1 of them revert back. While this may not be a thumb rule, it is directional to the efforts one needs to put and not expect everything to come on a platter. Below are some fun stats of 3:1 in my experience of follower base building. It so happened that, for every 3 following I got 1 follower in 2 days. I hope the ratio would be better for you with my ready active follower base of some awesome people
Dec 21–105 Following, 37 Followers (2.8: 1)
Dec 22–224 Following, 76 Followers (2.9: 1)
Dec 23–336 Following, 132 Followers (2.5: 1)
Happy writing, keep inspiring!!
